MY DRIVE

MY WORLD SHATTERED at SIX

It was 1966, my musically gifted dad was lying in hospital after having heart surgery. Medical science has come forward in leaps and bounds since the 60’s, but in those days doctors were still learning a lot about cardiovascular disease and heart surgery.

Mick my dad was 32, I was just 6 years old, he had heart problems, the doctors tried desperately to save him, but after just a few days our world fell apart, my dad passed, gosh even today I miss him so, so much!

I was born in 1960 and my brother in 63, our sudden loss at a young age triggered something in me, which still drives me today! I felt I needed to look after mum and my little bro, as our world was torn apart!

The caring tenacious nature of my character runs deep, it’s interesting I’ve chosen a career path, looking after people’s fitness and health.

Our time on earth is too damn short, our most important mode of transport… our bodies, need to be healthy and able to steer through life!

If your body was a car, would it be a beaten up old jalopy, always breaking down? Or a well maintained, reliable Rolls Royce that will transport you to enjoy a long happy life?

1966 SUMMERY ::

My Dad’s Heart condition and untimely passing was a profound catalyst, one that drives me still today inspiring me to embark on a journey dedicated to promoting Fitness for Health.

My experience as a little boy, and consequence of inheriting my father’s Heart condition has instilled a deep-seated appreciation for the importance of maintaining a healthy body.

I hope sharing a little of my personal life, will explain the drive behind my commitment and dedication towards guiding clients on their journey to success, these core values are deeply rooted in every aspect of my work.

FITNESS ENTREPRENEUR

1997 was the most exciting venture on my fitness entrepreneurial journey, when I approached the manager of a new health & fitness development in Bromley called Pinnacle Health.

Winning several contracts I set-up a limited company called The Fitness Partnership which was the first ‘train the trainers’ external company to provide private Health Clubs with ‘in-house’ personal trainers.

With major fitness chains such as PINNACLE HEALTH & CANNONS FITNESS CLUBS I employed, mentored and trained wannabe personal trainers with ground breaking industry-recognised work-based education.

This NVQ-style fitness industry training was pioneered by myself and uniquely supported Health Club members with personal training services and instructors with recognised qualifications, CPD Accreditation and practical experience.

1999

SHOWBIZ ENDS the NOUGHTIES.

In 1999 my fitness for stage and screen was launched, after working with several singing and vocal coaches I recognised the need for a specific Occupational Service’s for the Entertainment Industry.

At the turn of the Millennium Fit4thepart was born with my first client, lead singer Marti Pellow who was about to launch his solo career after being frontman for the sensational band WetWetWet.

Marti Pellow’s management searched for the right fitness trainer who came recommended with the essential skills to work behind the scenes of the glitz and glamour, and approached me in 2000.

There’s no business like show business, it's a close-knit family that work in a unique industry with unique challenges, my talent services continues to thrive working with well-known Artistes from Musical Theatre to TV and Film.

DRAMA SCHOOLS & ACADEMIES

AMBASSADOR OF FITNESS

Now considered to be a successful “fitness entrepreneur” in 2004 I was asked to present as a ‘ambassador’ for the YMCAfit as a guest speaker to hundreds of personal trainers.

As a result of my Fitness Partnership industry leading work, I was asked by Director of Innovation and Development at Central YMCA Robin Gargrave, to contribute towards the development of the coveted YMCA Personal Trainers Award.

In 2006 as a level 3 advanced instructor the Register of Exercise Professionals UK recognised my professional profile within the industry maintaining my membership status as a committed “Ambassador”

PRESENTER STAGE & SCREEN

In 2008 in calibration with HAB International Ltd I designed a specific NEW product incorporating the inspiratory muscle training device PowerBreathe. I called the re-branded product ActiBreathe, and set out to produce a series of exercise to music training concepts for HAB to launch worldwide, I married several additional products into a ‘Boxed Set’ which were filmed and released on DVD for international distribution.

The following few years saw me touring International distributors of PowerBreathe presenting the NEW Actibreathe Workout concept to fitness instructors and Personal Trainers around the world, presenting at Fitness EXPO’s, seminars and distributor workshops in countries as far as Japan & South Korea.

PRODUCT INVENTOR

2009 brought an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a spin off company at Brunel University called Lifelab Innovations and sports scientists at Brunel University in this partnership I invented a fitness training device called the BIo Belt and designed commercial programmes for the launch of the product.

Personality & Coaching Style

I’m a 60 plus positive, upbeat, motivational kinda guy, I like to draw the best from those willing to achieve. I belive fitness should be fun, variable and never a chore. I’m not one of these young sergeant-major type of trainers that will have you doing somersaults and cartwheels.

Fitness needs to align with your needs and aspirations, it’s not a one size fits all, for this reason my PT Club is your ideal partner, guiding you personally, recommending which workout will work for you and which wont.

My Online PT CLUB

2024 - Members are no longer satisfied with the impersonal mass market approach of the large gyms. The Pandemic opened the world to online workouts as ‘lock down’ comensed and ‘working from home’ became the norm.

Customers quickly realised the benefits of fitness training in the comfort and convenience of home where workouts presented the more intimate experience of smaller group and personal training, all with a like minded online community, where your instructor knows your name.

My commitment to clients and the dedication I share to helping them achieve, is something I’m very passionate about, which underpins my core values. I know first hand that life can throw an unpredicted curve balls at any time, being in the best physical and mental shape we can be, goes a long way to living longer and a more fruitful life.
